Grant’s Zebra

Grant’s zebra, a subspecies of the plains zebra, is recognized for its striking black-and-white stripes, which serve as camouflage in the wild. These zebras are social animals that thrive in herds on the African savanna.

In zoos, zebras are housed in large, open enclosures with grassy areas for grazing and shaded spots for resting. Their diet includes hay, fresh grass, and specially formulated pellets. Behavioral enrichment often involves introducing new scents or objects to stimulate their curiosity and natural instincts.

Zebras in zoos help educate visitors about the importance of conserving savanna ecosystems and protecting wildlife from poaching and habitat loss.
